The year 2020 is significant for nurses and nursing in many ways. There are many national and international events during the year where the work of nurses and midwives is celebrated, but more importantly their work is valued. In this session you will hear about the current situation of nursing in Finland and what will happen in the year of the nurse and the midwife.

Keynote lecture (Skype): Research on Simulation Pedagogy – Challenges and Possibilities

Exhibitors:

Marianne Teräs, RN, Public Health Nurse, M in Health Sc., PhD

Associate Professor in Education specialized in Health Care Education

Department of EducationStockholm University

Info:

This presentation explores simulations from the perspective of education sciences. Especially theories of learning will be focused on and how they can benefit our understanding of nursing simulations. We can approach simulations from a large perspective as an encompassing approach to learning a nursing profession or from a narrow perspective as situated learning of a scenario. Conceptualizations of learning in nursing simulations, as well as pedagogical models, are many. Challenges are, for example, that teaching need to be developed based on education theories, and that multiple concepts used in studies need to be defined and explained. Possibilities are a versatile picture of practices in nursing simulations, a solid background to develop simulation pedagogy and a strong theory-practice dialogue in nursing simulation pedagogy.
